How it works.

  1. Home visit. We look at what you've got and talk through styles, materials and colours.
  2. Free written quote. It says what's included, and that the work is signed off through FENSA.
  3. Dates. We confirm when the work's happening and how long it'll take.
  4. Out and in. The HomeOwners Alliance says a straightforward window takes around an hour, and to expect at least 3 or 4 a day.
  5. Certificate. The paperwork follows. FENSA jobs should be registered within 21 days.
You don't need FENSA specifically. You do need a route to compliance: an installer in an authorised scheme, or building control. Read what is a FENSA certificate?

We supply and fit uPVC, aluminium and timber windows, and they're signed off through FENSA.

Questions we get asked.

Do I need building regulations to replace windows?

Yes, replacement windows are covered. A registered installer can comply without a separate application.

Do I need planning permission for new windows?

Usually not, if they look similar to those in the house. Listed buildings, Article 4 Directions and leases can change the answer.

Do I need trickle vents?

If the old windows had them, yes, no smaller than before. If they didn't, the guidance gives minimum areas, or another way of showing ventilation is no worse.

Do I need safety glass in my windows?

In critical areas, yes, including panels up to 800mm from floor level, and panels beside doors.

What size does an escape window need to be?

Width and height at least 450mm, clear openable area at least 0.33m², with the bottom of the opening no more than 1100mm above the floor.

I've lost my FENSA certificate. What can I do?

FENSA offers replacements through its website, where you can search by address.
